Whenever I try to go to the Windows Update site either through the start menu entry or even typing the url into the browser (both IE7 and Mozilla Firefox) the page that comes up is the MSN home page.
If I go to the Microsoft home page and use the links to the update page I get a 404 message - page cannot be found.
This computer is on a home network and can access all other pages I want. System specs for this machine:
OS: XP Home SP3 - did clean re-install 3 weeks ago from disc (SP2) and was able to access update to SP3 and all other updates automatically.

"If it walk likes a duck and quacks like a duck, it's probably a duck!"

It definitely walks like a duck and quacks like one too - I now have two desktops and a laptop (all on my home network) that can't access Windows updates -just goes straight to MSN home page.
Scans by Adaware and Macafee (Adaware can't get to update server either but Macafee can) show Browser hijack attempts and pop-ups and Adaware tries to remove them but they come back :upset:
Ah well guess its off the HJT section for some time consuming scanning and fixing :sigh:

No more allowing students to use their thumb drives to submit work to me for assessment! :4-thatsba
