I tried to install SP3 on this system and when it came to "Starting Windows" got the blue screen.
I used the same version on an Asus P5GC-MX with a dual core processor and it works well.
I read that SP3 is particularly suited to dual core systems but it did not state its unsuitability to older systems.Is there an issue here?

What's the spec of your computer?
Manufacturer, model, motherboard, video, memory, power supply.......please give as much info as you can.
Can you get into Safe Mode, by pressing F8 repeatedly during start-up?
