Windows Shutting down at random..Opens calculator aswell

Ok so recently ive been having a problem with windows. It will open calculator at random times without me pressing anything, and then maybe half an hour later will shut down. Ive been told on other forums to come her and see if anyone can help me out because so far, no-one has any ideas what this is. Judging by some of the posts ive read, im a total n00b so if anyone can help me out id be very greatful. Thanks

I'm sure you'll find some help here. I know I did. And I choose to stick around.

Have you run a complete virus/spyware/adware scan? If not, that's the place to start. Post again with the results and one (or more) of the windows guru's will be glad to help.

ive run virus scans from both norton and AVG, and spyware scans using adaware and spybot. My pc according to them is clean.I virus scan once every 2 weeks and spyware scan everyday. I delete all cookies and delete all internet files also.

ok so i looked in the windows folder and found a exe file called _msrstrt. When i double clik it, it shuts down my pc. Could this be the baddie?

It sure looks to be a trojan or other malware. I'll try to get your thread moved to the Security arena.

Please follow these instructions. Someone will look over your log a.s.a.p.

Download and install: HiJackThis.

(Always create a Folder for HiJackThis anywhere but your Temp/Temporary Internet Folders or Desktop. A good place to make a folder would be in My Documents, as this is where it will save the backup files needed if there's a problem.)

Then doubleclick HijackThis.exe, and hit "Do A System Scan And Save Log". Make sure all Windows and Browsers are closed.
When the scan is finished, best to save your text file in the same folder as where you put HiJackthis.

Copy/Paste the info from your saved Hijackthis log file into this thread.

Hi DrDomDom

I see nothing malicious in your log. However you have 2 antivirus programs installed. I strongly suggest you uninstall 1 of them to avoid conflicts and system slow downs. Norton is a huge resource hog to begin with, if you are not paying for the subcription and/or it is not valid I would remove it and keep AVG.
