Windows server 2008 R2, logging in with client question

1465 Views 4 Replies 2 Participants Last post by  netjens
I just installed windows server 2008, added DNS and DHCP and users. Now, it works fine, I joined the domain, restarted the computer, but after the restart, my only choice was to login localy again, do I have to do someting in the AD on the server to force the client to use username and password go login? My client is a windows 7 ultimate

Thanks
Jens

Are you saying that when connecting to the server from a your Windows 7 client you can only log in locally? I am right in assuming you are connecting using Remote Dekstop?

Try logging in with domain\username and the password
I am saying that I joined the domain, restarted the computer, but after the restart I still only have the local login screen despite the client joined the domain.

Remote desktop? uhh well I am using that to control the server, but that has nothing to do with joining the domain.
Oh I see ! Sorry, got the wrong end of the stick there !

Is there not a "Switch User" icon at the logon screen? http://www.tcd.ie/iss/assets/img/training/vista_switch_user.jpg

Also, check in AD that the computer account has been created.
Nope, not what I have seen, just the 2 local accounts I have a look in AD and see if the computer has been registred. Have to do it on monday, cant get to the server now :-( at the office thanks anyway
