Hi guys,
Firstly apologies if this is the wrong place to post, I chose it for want of a better location.
My problem is in two parts. I have recently installed the Windows Live Messenger Beta (Version 2009 Build 14.0.5027.908) along with the rest of the beta version of Windows Live.
My problem with this program may seem petty, but if I can solve it I have no need to worry about the second issue.
I'm sure you are all familiar with messengers 'custom emotes' and have used them often, however I now find that these do not display on this new version of messenger. You may well say that its because its a beta version, but I have spoken to friends also running the beta and they can see the custom emotes when I send them messages, and I still cannot see theirs when they send them.
With this in mind I then un-installed messenger beta, and attempted to re-install the most recent version of messenger prior to the beta release, (simply called Windows Live Messenger).
This is where my second problem arises. When I attempted to install it, bearing in mind I had had this installed before updating to the beta version, I now get an error message right after accepting the terms and conditions.
The error is as follows:
"There was a problem with this installation. Windows Live Suite was not installed.
System error details
Code: 0x8000ffff
Description: Catastrophic failure"
I have attempted to check Microsofts online help, but most of the key pages seem to be offline, and I cannot find any sort of email address for their own tech support, again the pages detailing contacts are offline.
For information, I am running Vista Home Premium SP1.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Cheers,
Ed Rogers
