Windows explorer constantly restarts

hi

Today I got windows opening up from Vista Security warning of trojans and viruses etc.

Browsers are unusable and security and scanning applications do not work.

I can stop the splash screens about the virus by using task manager and switching off xyo.exe

To the best of my knowledge I have not installed any software or codecs recently or done anything dangerous.

My computer now displays the message that windows explorer is shutting down and flickers every 15 seconds or so.

I am sure that more informatio than this will be needed but I am not sure what excatly

idp

And a large screen of information is offereing to troubleshoot a problem with ctyberlink demultiplexer.

I should probably have explained that I did read the instructions above before posting

But at present I am unable to do anything at all

I will try to describe what happens

When I boot up windows vista opens

After a few seconds notifications open from Vista Security warning me of impending cataclysms

I can shut them but they re open.

I can press ctrl + alt + del and get the task manager and i can stop the notifications by stopping xyo.exe

at the same time as the security notices start a window opens saying that windows explorer is closing down, the screen flickers, goes blank, then it says windows restarting, the screen flickers

this continues every 15 seconds thereafter

if i attempt to run a program nothing happens

if i hit the vista thing in the left hand corner the menu comes up, but nothing works on it -

also a large panel opens up informing me that i should go to the CyberLink website to get help with the Cyberlink demultiplexer codec. It offers a number of options and advice - one of which allows the add/remove software menu to be brought up and i can remove software if i wish - but i cannot access the internet to visit their site or any other site

i cannot use the find bar because it shuts down every fifteen seconds when windows restarts

I cannot get any folder or drive to open up in windows explorere even for the few seconds between it opening and closing

hope this is clearer

You should still post in that forum rather than this one. It's the better place for what you need than this.
Hi, have you tried starting the computer in Safe Mode?

Restart your computer and boot into Safe Mode with Networking by hitting the F8 key repeatedly until a menu shows up (and choose Safe Mode with Networking from the list). In some systems, this may be the F5 key, so try that if F8 doesn't work. Login on your usual account.
Will try there again - although I did and they sent me here
