I get the message "invalid system disk" when i startup and i figure a boot disk is needed to fix this. but my boot disk was lost and i dont know of any other way to get into the hard drive. does anybody know of another way to get around this?
Thanks for the link, but now i have another problem. From what i understand you need to get into Setup when the comp is starting up to be able to use the boot disk. (or am i wrong???) it says i need a password and i have no clue as to what it is. Is there any ways around this?
The computer im using right now is a brand new one, im trying to fix an old computer. the setup im talking about is the one you get into when you press the delete key after you first turn the computer on. its a black screen with white writing. sorry if i confuse you, im new at this.
ok, you shouldn't need to get into bios right now, just make the bootdisk on the new computer, it doesn't matter where the disk is made .. put it in the old computer while the powers off and turn the old system on, it will read the disk and bring you to the command prompt.
