hi!
ive just picked up my new laptop and was trying to set up filesharing over wifi between it and my old laptop, the new one is running win7 and the old running vista. as far as i can see ive got all the settings correct, visibilty, filesharing, etc,etc,...

i have managed to get it so the vista pc can view and share the files on the new laptop however the new one cannot access the old one; "windows cannot access \\jlaptop"

also i can ping the new laptop from the old however not visa versa!??

sorry i am aware im probably missing some crucial information ive never had to forum for help! but ask and i will supply!

thankyou J

Hi jestaa - Welcome to TSF,

Any 3rd party Firewall or Security Software running? Disable it for now.
If you have the Windows Firewall enabled, make sure that Files and Printer Sharing is excluded.

Make sure to create Identical UserNames and Passwords on both computers.

Verify that Netbios is Enabled.

Disable password protected sharing.

Thanks for the reply.
There is no security software running on either and windows firewalls disabled. Both have the same logins, have netbios enabled and password protection is disabled.
Please advise.
