Had my computer for about a month, sometimes while I'm using it I get a warning window saying "Windows has encountered a serious error and needs to restart", then it restarts, when starting up I get the windows repair window saying it could not repair the problem, this can then happen 4 or 5 times, eventually after starting it will work, this happens at random intervals, I can't narrow it down to a particullar program as I'm always doing something different.
Other times I will start my computer and I get a window saying "the last time windows was shutdown it was not shutdown properly", when it was.
Also keep getting warning window saying "windows explorer has stopped working".
3 days ago I got a virus warning with Bullguard which came already installed, tried to run the virus scan with bullguard but bullguard would not open, I shutdown, tried to restart but after spending 2 hrs trying to restart it it never did, had to contact the manufacturer who told me to re-set to factory settings which I did, this solved the problem so I could restart, I then run a virus scan which came back clear, then after a couple of hours, started getting the "windows has encountered a serious error and needs to restart again".
And also if I start the pc, leave it for around 15mins while I go off and do something else, when I return I get warning windows saying "windows has recovered from an unexpected shutdown".
Its like it has a mind of its own! Would appreciate any help!

Windows 7
64bit
came pre-installed
AMD Athlon(tm) II X4 630 processor 2.80 GHz
4.00 GB RAM
ATI Radeon HD 4300/4500 series

Hey. You're getting memory management errors caused by AVG. Please uninstall it and install MSE as a replacement.

Code:
MEMORY_MANAGEMENT (1a)

Arguments:
Arg1: 0000000000005003, The subtype of the bugcheck.
Arg2: fffff70001080000
Arg3: 0000000000002868
Arg4: 0000286b000050d4

Debugging Details:

You're also getting a 0x24 error. Please open an elevated command prompt and run the following command.

Code:
chkdsk /r

Thanks for replying, but I only uninstalled Bullguard incase that was the problem and installed AVG yesterday, this has been going on for a few weeks.

Sorry but how do I open an elevated command prompt? I'm no computer expert!

Thanks again

I can say for sure 100% that AVG is now giving you bsod, so please uninstall that. MSE is a great replacement and will not bsod on you.

For elevated command prompt:

Start menu | all programs | accessories

Then right click command prompt and choose run as administrator.

Thanks again for your help, uninstalled AVG and installed MSE few hrs ago, seems more stable at moment. Just did the elevated command prompt, was told it would run the next time I started windows so I restarted, after clicking on restart I got the blue screen! Anyway it restarted ok and went through the command prompt, will now see what happens!

AVG causes poor performance as I've seen last year plenty of times. I'm not sure if they've gotten their act together as of yet. I doubt it. Your machine will behave much nicer now and perform worlds better.

You're welcome. That command you're running will ensure the hard drive is well.

Continued success to you and good luck.

Thanks again for your help, I do appreciate it, but am afraid BSOD has returned!
Started pc, straight away got a window saying desktop gadgets has stopped working, not that that bothers me, opened internet explorer, after a couple minutes got a bluescreen then it shutdown, restarted, opened explorer again, then while writing this message the 1st time everything froze, couldnt do anything so had todo a hard restart, ok up untill this minute.

Here you go. Well its been working ok at the moment, I been searching the net and trying to find a solution, came across reference to some people having troubles with Google Updater on their system, wondered if this could be causing a problem? Checked in the services list to see its stopped, though I have only checked while my system has been running ok the last few hrs and not when I've had a problem, tried to uninstall it but can't seem todo so, so have disabled it, am going away tonight for a couple days so will check to see if its made any difference when I get back.

Thanks again for any help.

This driver in particular needs updating:

Code:
AsIO AsIO.sys Mon Apr 06 03:21:08 2009
Please visit your motherboard page on the manufacturer's site to install the latest Probe utility, under downloads in the utilities section.

If you don't know which motherboard you have, you can use CPU-Z to tell you. It's free and can be found on Google easily. You probably have an Asus board.

Well everything was ok after installing Probe for a while, shutdown lastnight. Just started up and pretty much instantly got a bluescreen! Only the 1 at the moment tho.

I see memory corruption so you had better test your RAM. Download a copy of Memtest86 and burn the ISO to a CD using Iso Recorder. Boot from the CD, and leave it running for at least 5 passes.

Well I used ccleaner and updated the video card driver, didnt have time lastnight todo the memory test.
Just booted up and got a bluescreen, couldnt do anything again, wouldnt even start in safe mode so had to restore to factory settings, just gonna try it for few days without putting anything on it see what happens, if it plays up again will just send it back now, had enough! You guys have been great, thankyou very much, will let you know how it goes.
