I reinstalled windows 7 hp yesterday and it's taking at least 3 times longer to shut down and I have 1 less program than before. I think it maybe a bit longer on booting up too.

I did MSconfig and unchecked everything but the MS and my HP printer stuff (unchecked the HP in the past and it caused a major mess - so leave that alone).

Seems like there's something else I can do to speed it up.

Yes, totally - first thing I did.

Not much for drivers, as most are on the motherboard and the computer is only 6 months old and did a reinstall from the image cd.

The only driver I had to find was the fax modem (usb).

Updated all my programs too.
