even on bare minimum settings with minimum services running its as slow as a mule and takes like 10x system resources that windows xp takes. everything is in the wrong place (not a different place, the wrong place) ive been using xp since early teens and love how fast it is i just dont like the sluggishness of windows 7

Windows 7, like Vista, does differ from XP. If 4 GB RAM, you should not experience slowness. Windows 7 does consume more system resources than XP, but less than Vista.

Are these your system specs?

RAM = 4 GB?

If you have Internet Security Suite like NIS, N360, McAfee, KIS, etc... remove it -

Reboot upon completion.

To answer the original question, no - you cannot use drivers for Windows Vista or Windows 7 on Windows XP (the driver model for Windows changed during Vista, and is not backwards-compatible). You can use *some* XP drivers on Vista or Windows 7, but not the other way around.

Perhaps we could assist you in getting Windows 7 running properly on your laptop? Especially if you're using Windows as installed by the OEM, rather than a clean installation...
