I hope this is the right place to post this. I left the computer on and when I went back to it later it wouldn't work. The green light was still on, but not the red light. The monitor light was on but black. I rebooted a few times and the red light flashes while it tries to boot, with the green light always on. The monitor displays the ACER logo but doesn't go further. It seems to sound as it usually does on startup, but the beep that happens just before it finishes starting up sometimes doesn't happen and sometimes it takes longer. It just never starts up. Any ideas what could be causing this or what I could do to troubleshoot?

What is the make and model number of your computer? And what Red light are you refuring too?

Also does the BIOS screen show when you reboot?

It's a computer my ex built, so I'm not sure of make and model. And the red and green lights are the lights on the computer.

If the Build is custom then please provide us with the parts and the case model number.

Again can you see the BIOS Screen? If yes then please try to boot into SafeMode.

What is the beep code the computer gives off?

Example: Beep Beep Beeeeeeep (Long Beep) Beep

Does the computer some time boot into Windows?

I'm not sure where I would find such model numbers. I can't get into the BIOS, I tried hitting delete or f2 right as I try to power it on and nothing happens. It's only one beep after a few seconds of the normal sound of a computer turning on. No it never boots into Windows.

Try to boot the computer into SafeMode.

Getting into Windows Safe Mode

Have you installed any new Hardware lately? RAM, HDD, Video Card, etc.

I tried tapping f8 and tried again holding it down and it doesn't work. It just flashes the acer logo, says no signal and goes black. I didn't install any new hardware (or software).

Try to plug in your Windows Recovery Disk. See if you can restore Windows to an older date.

I don't have one but should I just put in the windows 7 disc and see if I can re-install?

Ok never mind that, it didn't work.

What happned when you put the Windows 7 disk in? Did anything display on the monitor?

Also what does the red and green light mean on your case? Look around the case and see if you can find a model number.
