I have win 2000 pro and an intel 3220 usb dsl modem, i have had a few problems recently with the connection dropping, the modem trains ok and connects ok but it just drops randomly... BT (pah!) say its a power management option but couldnt or wouldnt tell me how to fix it, the only thing i did recently was install the drivers for the usb 2 card from belkin instead of using the default windows ones, any ideas please guys? thanks...

Do you have any other usb devices attached to your system? If so, remove them and see if the problem persists. I am fairly sure that Windows 2000 does not have generic USB 2.0 drivers so before you installed the Belkin drivers the USB was 1.1. Maybe another USB 1.1 device does not like to play with a USB 2.0 port and is causing problems.
