I'm trying to share a folder from a Windows 2000 computer with a Windows 7, without having to create a new account on either computer to make them match.
Now, I have a folder set-up on either computer, with identical settings for sharing, security, etc. The Windows 2000 computer can access the Windows 7 folder without a problem, but the Windows 7 computer can't even see the Windows 2000 computer. When I manually type in the domain address, I'm prompted for my credentials for the Windows 7 domain. This, obviously, leads nowhere as it's the Windows 2000 computer I'm trying to access.
Can anyone give me some insight into this legacy OS and how I could link it across to Windows 7? Oh, I have tried using an external hard drive to transfer the data, but the Windows 2000 computer is so out-of-date that it can't recognize the hard drives, even with up-to-date drivers. I've also tried burning a CD/DVD each, but it can't get it to recognize the data on Windows 7. :S
