window over the ie is gone

hi i just got a new pc and installed a fresh copy of win7 . in the old pc when i moved the mous cursor over the ie icon for example it used to open like small windows and show me whats in the tabs . Same thing for the explorer icon on the bottom left now its gone. what can i do to activate it or somthing . Thanks

I am currently on a mac (in school) O_O so I cant remember where to go

IDK if areo is needed, is this win7 basic?

Any way try to right click on the task bar and go to properties, if there is a setting it should be in there

If you've installed Windows 7 Basic Edition, or set the Theme to "Windows Basic" in any other edition, you won't get the preview pop-up thumbnail in the taskbar.

You must be using one of the "Windows Aero" themes to get that.

thanks alot man . had to open the regedit and make a few REG_DWORD files and then started the services.msc and the restarted the window desktop manager .
