I have a 80g hard drive where when Win98 is installed, it only sees 10gigs.

I know that Win98 has a problem seeing drives larger then 32gigs.

The BIOS see's the full 80gigs and fdisk sees all of it. This is not my PC so I really don't know what MB manufacturer it is.

I now that if you have a 80g drive and the BIOS says you have a 16g drive you need to update the BIOS. But the BIOS regonizes the full drive. Because on older MB it has a limit of 64g.

Any suggestions.

What brand of hard drive is it.

If it's a WD take all of the jumpers off of the drive if it is going to be used as a master without a slave.

What FS is on the drive anyways?

He has to be using Fat32 -- NTFS is not implemented in Win98 and if it was Fat16 he'd only be able to see 2GB ...

Do you have multiple partitions on this drive or just 1 large one?

Thanks for all the suggestions but I am going to tell them to go get at least Win2k or Winxp as their OS. Enough playing around with 9X.:D

Win2k regonized the whole drive with no problems. So I think they are going to use Win2k instead of Win98. Thanks for all the suggestions.
