win2k the trouble with it

The few years i have now spent as a tech has earned more challenges than any other proffesion just every other day is a nightmare,fine but slowly am coping with the woes.

now win2k,98, each time a problem crops up relating to the os i have to reinstall it is very taxing and boring so anyone help on how to keep the necessary files on the disk so that am able to just copy to specific locations that need attention.

Do you have a ghosting program like Norton Ghost??? If you do you could do a ghost backup of a good OS and have it for later use if the OS goes down. This should save you a lot of time from having to reinstall the entire OS and the software that the client uses. Also you wouldn't have to do the OS updates. Hope this is helpful.

GHOST can backup to either another disk (partition or physical disk), CD-R/RW, or across the network using TCP/IP to another machine. It does an image backup of either the partition or the whole physical disk. Obviously, it can also restore the same way. It's as simple as firing up GHOST and pointing it to the source and destination and running the backup/restore.
