What kind of connection do you have to the internet?(Dial up/Broadband/LAN) You might want to try again, it could be their server was having problems... they are updating a lot recently. You also might want to check out www.updates.com It'll pick up out of date programs too. Let us know what happens.

BTW how did the dispute with buyaib turn out?

Oh, and be sure you don't have any firewalls blocking access... if your running ZoneAlarm, make sure you allowed the updater program access to the internet.

Not sure how to put this delicately, but is it a legit copy of XP, because they are seriously limiting the leaked Corporate one. Are you running any firewalls other than the one built into XP?

I'm glad to hear that the RAM worked.

I had to ask... no offense intended. Anyway the newest service pack from Microsoft is going to disable use of the old FCKGW keycode and assign a new one to the corporate edition with an entirely different algorithm. The sting will be felt when a user using the pirated version goes to download, while still using the old Corp code, as they operating system will be rendered useless.... a Microsoft induced system lock out. I believe Danrak posted an article explaining more.

I must say I am stumped on this one... does anyone else want to give this a shot. I doubt it'd be that anything was corrupted, because why would it return that nothing was found? David, what kind of antivirus are you running, if any? I doubt it's a virus, but Norton and Macaffee have been known to be rather obtrusive when it comes to broadband.

exactly, but who knows if they aren't going to block all updates unless you have the service pack... they are basically forcing the pirates to fend for themselves, which is obviously no problem, as they have already cracked the new code, and found the registry key so they can change the code to the new one.... it's futile to go up against the internet.
