Hi,

My laptop is freezing up completely of late.

After starting windows, it would suddenly lock down the cursor and freeze up the system clock. It won't respond to any inputs thereafter. Even control+alt+del or task manager won't open.

The only option that remains for me is rebooting the machine.

I cant be sure if this is due to a spyware but then as I post this message while running windows on safe mode I can see a marked improvement in performance and therefore I am inclined to believe so. I was also wondering if this could be a hardware issue at first as my laptop is two years old.

Please guide me in how to retrieve my system.

Thanks much!

Hi,

Yes, it could very well be hardware related. Have you added anything recently? New RAM? Video Card? NIC? external devices..? Also, it could be a power supply issue. Maybe your plug is fried.

Hi

I cant remember of any new installatons done voluntarily of late.

However I cant be sure if during surfing the internet some malware got into my machine without my knowledge and that's what I wanna find out.

The issues started while I was on one of the movie forums so I am thinking of it as a definite possibility. Additionally there is also the fact that in safe mode it runs perfect. Wouldnt the problems affect it equally if the problem was in the hardware?

Thanks!

Bump: Awaiting help for 4 days Re: Win Xp system freezing up completely!

Hello,

I haven't got any response in the past few days.
My computer is really in an unworkable state now.

Could anyone please help as soon as possible?

I noticed one more thing which I forgot to mention in my first post- the sound that comes of when Win Xp boots is also somewhat affected.

Thanks much for your attention

Well, safe mode runs less services/drivers/programs, thus using less power.

Freezing problem i keep saying is one of the common problems a Pc user encounter. The common cause of freezing problem is Spyware, Low memory & High temperature exposure. But in your own case, since the pc is a new pc i suggest the problem is not a memory problem, it lies between High temperature exposure and Spyware. The best thing to do is to know if the air outlet is blocked by dust particles, if so then apply some little technique to remove the dust particles so as to free the air-outles, but if the air outlet is ok and the temperature environemnt is quite normal, then the problem may be spyware attack. Treat a spyware attack by formatting the system to reinstall the Operating system and a fresh active antivirus program (i recommend AVG antivirus if you may consider one). This can simply solve your problem.
