i think Windows XP Pro is rather bad, i installed it on a few days ago and its rather, problematic!

First of All, Java applications, they dont work, ive downloaded the latest version of Java and it still doesnt work with applications that need Java!

Secondly, Graphics, ive got a G-Force 2 32mg and well the screen doesnt use up the whole monitor space, and in some games its still the same, even though i run most games at 800x600.

ok im asking for help, does anyone know how to sort this problem, ive got all the latest drivers for my graphics card and stuff!

my PC specs are:

Pentium 4 1.3ghz
256mg Ram
GForce 2 32 Mg
76 gig hard drive.
a sound card(i think it may be on board but sound is one of the things that actually work fine)

anyways does anyone have any idea how i may fix the Graphics Problem and the Java problem?

thanks in advance!

i ran Windows ME before putting XP Pro on, id heard alot of people say XP was better than ME, but i actually find ME better!

again thanks in advance for any help!

Okay first of all Welcome the the Tech Support Forums.
As for you video problem I'm not sure which drivers you need but I believe the are the ones for the Detonator... JAMMAN should be able to help you out with that one.
As for your Java problem. I suggest going to http://www.updates.com Downloading their program and letting it scan your computer. After that download whatever it tells you is out of date... it will most likely pick up Virtual Machine and link you to the new one since Microshaft has decided to drop support for it :upset: Let us know if that doesn't work... I'm sure we can solve it though

Did you use this link to get the download?

That's where I downloaded mine from.

For the monitor go to display in the control panel.

Settings.

Advanced.

Adapter.

Refresh Rate.

Try different refresh rates. You should be able to adjust screen size on the monitor also.

ok, i done the refresh rate thing, my monitor is a 17" monitor, i got it to almost fit(it was a wee bit too big) to using all the monitor space at 85 hertz, but the writing was a bit blurry! all the other hertz's, dont take up the monitor space, i still get thick black lines at the edges!

im going to try and download Java Virtual Machine, see if that works!

Those thick black lines go away by adjusting the horizontal and vertical height and position.... the little buttons on the front of your monitor should allow you to adjust those. I still suggest you go through www.updates.com
Good luck!
is there anyway to do that without using the buttons, as they have not worked since i got this computer, i press them but nothing happens for some reason!

also at updates.com the java it asks me to download has got a rather bad review for windows xp
