Control Panel knows the scanner is installed (Canon), and its listed in the devices as working properly, and the properties test reports the scanner is working, etc. (its running and making scanner-type noises), but the 'profile' says nothing is installed, and trying to import from the Windows Photo Gallery brings up an empty window with no scanner detected. Clicking refresh produces nothing.

Any ideas?

Apologies if this is in the wrong forum, the scanner worked on XP, so I guess its a Vista problem. (Another one...!!!)

Don't currently have any other software for linking up to the scanner, don't really need it, this is just for quick b+w doc scans.

cheers,
Ian

Re: Win Photo Gallery can't find scanner

Hi, thanks
yep, already picked up the latest drivers when I installed on Vista.

When I plugged in the scanner, the installation 'wizard' didn't run, it just found the driver and said the scanner was ready to go.

I notice that on 'Paint', the 'import from scanner' option is grayed out, too.

How can I get that part of the system to recognize that the Canon stuff is there ready to go??!!
