My neighboors machine freezes when loading. The error message she is getting when booting up her machine is: 4th master harddisk S.M.A.R.T. status bad, backup and restore. She dosent have a startup disk. I tried to do a manual reinstall but the machine dosent complete the operation. The machine locks even when I try to boot in safe mode. Any help out there?

sure replace the hard drive...it is going bad!!! SMART is a hard drive item...that warns you ...like it is that things are going downhill
