Hello Community,

I have a problem with my laptop, whenever I watch flash content for example, youtube or youtube like websites and when I forward a video or rewind it a lot then the windows freezes and nothing bad happens, all that happens is that windows screen freezes and mouse works fine and most importantly the audio of the video plays fine but sometimes it hags too just like a DJ it makes remix music :) . Nonetheless, windows operation works fine but the screen freezes. While the screen is frozen, I intentionally opened Word and Paint with the help of keyboard short-cut and save the file without any error after restart whatever I wrote it was there saved. This shows that windows is fine maybe its the browser. Furthermore, the only way I can unfreeze it, is by pressing CTRL+ALT+Del then from there I restart the whole system and everything goes back to normal.

I have updated my browser, I use latest firefox mainly along with No script and redirect removal and i have updated plugins and only flash and Divx is enable and everything else is disabled.

Just to be more clear, I also use opera latest version and same thing happens there but less frequently than firefox maybe that's because I don't use it as much as firefox.

I have Windows 7 64bit ultimate installed on dell 1525 inspiron along with Intel duo 2 core T7250 with 4GB of ram and latest drivers. I also check event viewer after the issues it doesn't state anything except the following error is present in event viewer:

  1. Session "Microsoft-Windows-Setup" stopped due to the following error: 0xC000000D
  2. The UAC File Virtualization service failed to start due to the following error: The system cannot find the file specified.
  3. The previous system shutdown at 18:47:58 on ‎13/‎02/‎2012 was unexpected.
  4. Unable to open the Redirector service performance object. The first four bytes (DWORD) of the Data section contains the status code.

You see the last error in the list has nothing to do with the problem, the first 3 is the ones I am suspicious of.

I have scanned my laptop with Kaspersky which i use nothing found clean as well as MalwareBytes nothing is found there too and there is no startup programs except the following:

Kaspersky,
Malwarebyte (Note: Real-time protection is disabled to avoid conflict the Kas)
&
Tuneup utilities is enables other than that everything else is disabled.

I have also carried out SFC scan to determine if there is any error it finds errors and fixes them but with few exceptions, if you want i will upload the file.

In conclusion, Windows screen freezes when watching flash content on browser, while frozen the system operates fine even sometimes the audio is playing fine furthermore mouse also works fine and i can start/close programs too while screen is frozen and even save new files using Word or Paint or any other program but the screen remains frozen until i press CTRL+ALT+Del then from there, I just restart the system.

Please I would like to make a small request that I would kindly like the experienced users of the community to help me out with issues and help me solve this problem.

I shall be thankful to you,

Update your Flash Player
Dependent on you download internet speed, When you watch a Streaming video, it buffers ahead of the viewing progress bar. A grey progress bar. Which loads ahead of the viewing progress bar. If you fast forward past where it is downloading (buffering) it will freeze the player. It's best to pause the playback till the buffer progress bar is more then half way downloaded.

Thank you, Spunk.Funk for the reply. Yes I have the latest flash player as well as latest browser. Furthermore, I have carried out internet speed test speed is fine download speed is above 5mbps.

Lets just it is flash player that causes this issue, you know firefox as well as chrome both have a set time where a plugin does not respond within given time it will eliminate it automatically. Furthermore, if Flash causes this issue then why the Windows freezes.

I sincerely appreciate your suggestion and advice but dont you think its something to do with GPU or Windows itself rather than Flash?

Let me know
