I'm having troubles with my video upon start up in normal mode. I'll have multiple vertical lines going across the screen and then it will crash.
I started it up in Safemode and it worked fine bypassing the graphics card. I then started it in safemode with networking and re-downloaded/installed the graphics drivers from Nvidia. After starting it back up in normal mode it worked well for about 10-20min then crashed. When restarted, it again had the same vertical lines across the screen then shortly thereafter crashed.
I'm using the Nvidia GTX8800 with the 257.21 driver. And advice would be greatly appreciated before i spend some on a new video card.
general stuff first open the case and make sure it is dust free, also pull the graphics card and reinsert it. while the case is open start the computer to verify the fan on the card is working properly.
I made sure there was no dust and the fan was working on the card. I completely tore the entire computer apart and inspected/dusted all of the components. After re-seating everything, it does the same thing.
my only other suggestion would be to try the graphic card on another system and see if you have the same problem. but it is beginning to sound like you need a new card.
