Hi there in a few months i will be upgrading my system to a
AMD Phenon x6 seem as how i need the power for a gaming pc,
and i am guessing the MB i buy, will probably support the new faster
sata 3.0 drives, so my question is will the newer sata 3.0 mother
boards be able to support sata 2.0 drives, i dont want to upgrade
to sata 3.0 until the prices start to drop a bit more.

Thanks for you help cheers take care thecritta

Currently you can plug an older SATA drive into almost any 3.0 motherboard so you're unlikely to have a problem. I have a mix on my computer right now with no problems. However, I'd always check the documentation before buying.

An amd phenom isn't really likely to help your gaming experience, nor is sata performance much of an issue. Games typically get loaded into memory and then mostly stay there. Very few games can use more than one cpu these days as well. If you want to get best performance, get the best graphics configuration you can afford and get and SSD to maximize game loading.

Games are most dependent on the GPU. SSD's offer little more than faster boot times.
