yesterday i turned on my computer to go on the internet.. i open up my IE 5.00 and the search button was pressed and there was the side window ect. everytime i shut down my computer and turn it back on that will happen... i have no clue what is going on.. plus i would always have to hide the links toolbar too.. please help..oh yeah i also went to view- toolbars-customize and removed the search button but it still shows up everytime i shut the computer down and restart it up.

Little confused.....right click your tool bar and see if you can LOCK the toolbar....

That should keep it from changeing

as for the side window opening I know from experince IE save the last way it was closed....open it clost the search window...try using IE for a little then close it but make sure it is the way you want it...see if that helps

no i cannot lock the toolbar...


i know what you mean about IE and closing the window.. that works(i close it the way i want)but when i restart the computer i will ahve to do that all over again because that stupid search box always shows up?¿!

any other ideas?.. what is wrong hmmmm

What version do you have now? I cant seem to think of any downsides of upgrading to 6.0 from any other IE anyway..

The 6.0 has better control of cookies and its got a couple extra bells and whistles....not many but just enough to make you want it... like all Microsoft upgrades. :)

ok thanks i think i will upgrade to IE6.. i have IE now by the way..
IF there is a problem is ther a way to downgrade besides formatting HD and fresh install of windows?

All your bells, whistles and settings will stay in tact. Outlook express will save all your contacts and settings. The web site even detects which version of windows you have and sets you up with the right file. And it's free. Wow.

Unfortunately, IE6 will only run on Win98 and higher. :(
