Hey there,

I play the game Dragon Age and I love those trainers for hard parts ( :3angel2: )
So I started this trainer (from brewers it is) and it sort of crashed. (Just the application, not the whole system).

After that I noticed some artifacts in Windows. Only in Windows itself, never during games. I also ran this ATI tool for a bit but no artifacts appeared, and I tested the VRAM which gave no errors. I sometimes get it in a application window at the top (where you can also close/minimize the application), some small "lines"/dots which sometimes change position if I would like save a document in word/notepad (even if i didn't change it). I also see it sometimes at the bottom if you have for instance multiple tabs open from firefox, you can see them and click on them in Windows 7. This sometimes gives dots/lines as well.

Now I've been reading up a bit and a possible solution was change the theme. Once I did so it came to me in an extreme form. All the themes I tried gave me a big black bar that changed position if I swapped from themes. only the default Windows one turned back to normal once i closed the theme-selection window. If it's open it also displayed a black box. The other themes had that black box also when I closed the window.

System specs:
Asus P5K
Intel Core 2 Duo E8400
4GB RAM
ATI XFX 4890 Black Edition
Windows 7 Professional

Hope you guys can help me with this :)

Sorry for my bad English, it's not my mother tongue!

Niels

Edit: Forgot pointing out: already reinstalled drivers & monitored CPU/GPU temps. Temps are fine and drivers made no difference :(

How can it be underpowered though, 620W is more then enough for my system afaik. The amps are also fine and it's no cheap-*** PSU. Wierd thing is, it only does it in the "Windows Interface", and things from Windows itself, not during games (Where it should ask a lot more power from the PSU!)

Thanks in advance,

Niels

The 4890 GPU requires a minimum 500W and I doubt the CoolerMaster 620W can actually deliver that power continually. CoolerMaster are OK but far from top quality.
I would want a minimum 650W Corsair, or other quality brand PSU, for your hardware.

Question still remains, how is this possible? It has been running fine before, but now it's showing this in idle mode. if it would be on full load/gaming I would bet get, but in idle?
