I am sorry if I post this discussion in the wrong forum, because it is not really about "support", but more about understanding the purpose of 2.5" size SSD.
In this thread I want to understand and discuss why there is no 3.5" SSD.

My point is: Why do they keep producing those 2.5" SSD, and make themselves so much stress to get more storage into this small size, instead of offering a 3.5" alternative size for desktop PC's and external storages?

I mean, 2.5" and 3.5" is quite a big difference, and into an 3.5" size case can fit so many more chips than into an 2.5" case.
Imagine, we could have budget 10TB SSD's just for the cost of a bigger cage (which are still widespread anyway in nearly all cases).

Is there lack of interest from the consumers?
Is it lack of interest from the manufacturers (like loss of potential profit)?
Or is it some kind of technical limitation?

What are your thoughts about this?

2.5 ssd has no moving parts compared to a 2.5 hdd laptop drive is slower at 5400rpm so making them smaller makes them slower vs ssd. also most users no prefer laptops to desktops. They save space and very quiet compared to 3.5 hdd.

The reason for lack of 3.5 SSD which would make sense for a PC (not a laptop) is the cost would be prohibitive.
