I was playing a game and wanted to switch to headphones, so I unplugged my speakers from the sound card, and when I plugged in the headphones, I heard no sound. My speakers didn't even work untill I rebooted in fact everything froze up. Is this something to do with XP or is it because I didn't shut down before removing the speaker jack from the sound card? I know it's not good to remove hardware when your computer is on, but I seemed to be able to do this when I ran 98SE.
