I usually have no problems using email but My sister has given me her new email address but I can't send emails to her either from the address book or by putting her address in manually.
This is the message that comes up:

The following message to <Her [email protected]> was undeliverable.
The reason for the problem:
5.1.0 - Unknown address error 550-'Unknown user'

I have even tried to reply from messages she has sent me but it still doesn't work. Her name is wrote in a mixture of lower case & upper case letters, don't know if that makes a difference.
Advice greatly appreciated!

What email provider do you use ? also are you using a program like Outlook Express to retrieve your mail onto your PC and send email or do it all online ? Also let us know if you can send other people emails OK who do not use talktalk ?

If you can send to other people ok then try sending her an email from another email address, see if that works. Im not a pro with networks, i am finishing a network course soon but it is all on a basic level, but im thinking it might be a configuration problem with your email providers server not being able to find the talktalk email server. Or if you use a program to retrieve your mail it might be a configuration at your end

If you can email other poeple ok anyway, then you should alert the email provider of the problem as the problem will be at their end.

Hope i have helped a bit :1angel:

Thanks for the advice!
I do use outlook express but have tried emailing from my servers site but still comes up with the same error.
I use tesco.net.
I can send to everyone else no problem.
So are you saying I should contact talktalk who my sis uses or tesco who I use.
Don't forget I can recieve her emails ok.

I don't know if you made a typo, but your example of your sister's email address looks as if it has a space in it...it shouldn't. She may have mistyped the 'reply to' addy in her software.

I don't know what else to say, but if she can send to you and you can not send to her, makes me think there is an issue with tescos smtp server not being able to resolve the talktalk server address.

As DrTeeth said, make sure you enter the address correctly, if it still will not work, try emailing someone else who is also on talktalk (if u know anyone) then contact tesco support about it, also google to see if anyone else has had problems...

sorry and merry xmas
