why can't i access my other hard drive?

after creating a partition, i installed windows 98. i never messed with my separate hard drive at all during the entire process (i had formatted c: because i was having problems with it), but when i got into windows using c:, i found that d: was being used for one of my cd-rom drives instead of the other hard drive. that separate hard drive was nowhere to be seen. the computer is recognizing it as being there - i went into cmos and it is set to primary slave and one of the other screens that pops up before windows also shows that drive as being the primary slave, but i can't access it from anywhere.

are my settings off? or were the contents of this drive erased even though i never did anything with it at all?

when you partitioned did you delete the partition for your second hd?

if so you may have to repartition and make an extended partition for your extra hd.
