Hi,

I did a search for 'horizontal text Visio' but nothing comes up; hopefully you can help:

I've imported a few images into Visio 2003. Anytime I type out a description the text only appears within the borders of the image.

For example,

I'd like the text to go from left to right

But it only goes within the width image and down, never across, past the borders of the image.

  • I’ve attempted to edit the text trying to eliminate the issue but nothing works
.
  • Of course when i add a shape from Visio this does not happen.
  • I made a new share, copied my image to the stencil, saved it and still no luck
  • I did a side by side of a Visio shape and my imported image but matching all the settings did not help
Thank you!

Have you tried entering your text in a text box then aligning the two elements with each other and grouping them?

That's what I do in Cade, which is a freeware Visio like application.

Thank you for the suggestion but unfortunately I’m importing data which is unique for each shape. The process of editing all thses shapes would drive me crazy but i could see how it would work ok with a few shapes.

I was however able to figure it out; you’d need to make sure the text of your shape/image is highlighted, click the Windows menu, and select Show shape sheet. In the shapes sheet window look for Text Transform and adjust the settings accordingly. I used the setting from a Visio shape and it worked.

Hope this helps anyone who runs into this iissue.

Great. Thanks for the tip. I'll try that the next time I'm playing with Cade and see if it works there, too.
