I'll be buying a laptop .... and will be playing occasionally some 3d games like MS Flightsimulator . Which will be better for such an application .... an Intel 830chipset with 48mb SHARED memory , or a ATi Radeon M1 with 8mb DDR dedicated ? Given both run on the same processor . Thanks .

The Intel seems to have a lot of shared memory if I understand you correctly. How much memory total comes with the system. The most I've seen was the video card taking 16m from the system.

I personaly love ATI, so I tend to go with their products more often.

ATI! The major issues with system performance and video cards is the memory bandwidth, memory speed, and the Z buffer. If you are sharing the on-board R.A.M. then you are opening yourself up to a whole lot of headaches. With the ATI card, it has it's own VRAM, buffer and other supporting hardware. You may pay alittle more but if you plan on PLAYING anything then you should already be prepared to spend the moola.
