i own a toshiba satellite l-300 and it runs a 32bit operating system. iv been told that this probably wont recognise a 4gb ram upgrade so im here to ask, which would be better considering there is two slots for ram:
i buy two 2gb ram slots and hope for best
buy one 3gb ram card and leave one slot empty
id like several opinions so please feel free to comment even if an answer has been posted

I've got 4gig ram on my 32-bit Windows 7 and it's all recognised, no problem.
Just don't fit any more than 4gig since it's a waste of money on a 32-bit OS.
Should be fine.

I would go with the 2x2 option.
If 1 goes bad, you could still operate some anyway.

Personally, I've yet to see any 32Bit OS see 4GB of RAM. :4-dontkno
3.25 to 3.75GB is common.
A 2X2GB matched pair is the preferred option for 4GB to avoid problems and is more than sufficient for a 32 or 64Bit OS.

As suggested above, Use Crucial's site to determine how much and what type of RAM is compatible for your laptop.
