I just want to know which of the following processors would give the highest framerates when playing games:

Intel pentium D830 2x3,00gHz 2mb cache, 130W
Amd Athlon II 425 3x2,70gHz 1,5mb cache, 95W

That's all :)

I don't do AMD so I don't know anything about their specs but the D830, while being a relatively fast CPU, is not the most up to date technology.
The E7400 (1066FSB & 3MB L2Cache) is a faster CPU than the D830.

Thanks for that chart :)

From what I can see there, the Athlon II 425 is clearly the fastest processor. However, I also noticed that the average frequency for that CPU was 2,9gHz - 200mHz more than stock speed :S

It did score on par with the core2duo @2.8gHz and it is quite a bit cheaper...
Also concidered that an AM3 motherboard may allow for future upgrades, while intel 775 probably won't have any new CPUs in a year from now, might it not be a good idea to go with AMD???

What kind of benchmark is this? is it multi-threaded?

Anyway, I think I can expect about a double in performance - the athlon scored almost twice as high as the Pentium D @3,5gHz
