which processer should i get?

which processer would be more powerful in gaming and stuff like that:
Intel® Core™2 E8400 (6MB,3.0 GHz, 1333FSB) or

Intel® Core™2 Q6600 Quad-Core (8MB L2 cache,2.40GHz,1066FSB)

i think the quadcore becuse it would have 4 cores making it stronger. ps this is my first build and the ram would be 4 gigs and the video card dual 8800 nvidia gt 512 mb

Your'e right, that one is alot better than the core 2 duo.

Or Get An Extreme Core (LOL)

In gamnig the 8400 at stock and with both OCed, the 8400 will run the 6600 down. Now if you start doing multithreaded apps, the 6600 would come out on top.

For Gaming the 8400 is much better.


For Video Editing, Using NERO etc, the Q6600 is better as all 4 cores will be used.

yes for gaming the 8400 is better and is a better overclocker. the 6600 is better for multitasking.

I'd say go with the q6600 and overclock it. I heard it can achieve 3.4GHz and higher with air cooling... one of the reasons I bought it and an arctic freezer 7. Well, I'm having problems with my setup so I can't even tell you how far it will go.
