Hello everyone. I know that I am supposed to have a cooling pad underneath my laptop, but I am unable to get one for awhile. Which is better just having your laptop on your lap, sitting on magazines, or sitting on a really big hard coaster? I know that the laptop needs airflow, but I am wondering which one is better for the time being before I have enough money for a cooling pad.

you not want anything soft that can easily form to the laptop and cover the air slots and fans.

What you want to avoid is blocking the airflow into the laptop via the vents on the bottom . . so the surface should be large enough for the laptop feet to rest on it and firm enough to not block the vent.

It depends on how hot your laptop runs . . if it gets hot to the touch, I would get one with fans . . if not, just one that elevates the laptop a bit. That is what I use

I just bought a new laptop so it doesn't get too hot, it is not even a year old yet. My other laptop does get hot however and it is 4 years old.
