Which is a better machine?

Hi Guys,

I can't believe I need to ask for advice...I used to know this stuff. I am trying to buy a new computer for myself. I want a real screamer...something that is incredibly fast. I have two options right now. Option #1 is from a new PC distributor and offers the latest top of the line model. Option #2 is from a local re-builder. The machine is used, but prepped for resale. I am willing to pay the money, but what I want is a great deal.

OPTION #1 $2200.00
ThinkPad P70 Xeon E3-1505Mv5 2.8GHz / 16GB / 256GB / DVD / ac / BT / FR / M600M / 17.3" FHD / W7P64-W10 MFG PART # 20ER002GUS

OPTION #2 $900.00
LENOVO THINKPAD W540 I7 4800QM 2.7 24GB 750GB WINDOWS 10 W/ 7 DISCS DVDRW 15.6 1920X1080 INTEL HD W/ NVIDIA QUADRO K1100M 2GB GDDR5

Which do you all think is a better deal for the money?

Thank you in advance for any help.

Between those two I would go with option #2.

You most likely don't need a high end workstation graphics card for what you're doing. What I would do is replace the existing storage with a large 512GB or larger SSD (Samsung 850 Pro is what I would suggest). That will give you a very good performance increase compared to a mechanical drive.

If you're considering Windows 10, just confirm that all the software you use is supported by the vendor.
