Mostly for multiple spreadsheets and browser windows being open. Occasionally i will do some video and image editing, but nothing too heavy on that end. Like right now I have two different browsers open with 5 windows open on one and 7 on the other. Four Excel spreadsheets, two instances of my proprietary accounting software, Outlook, a contact manager and 5 different instant messenger programs.

I can't believe I need to ask for advice...I used to know this stuff. I am trying to buy a new computer for myself. I want a real screamer...something that is incredibly fast. I have two options right now. Option #1 is from a new PC distributor and offers the latest top of the line model. Option #2 is from a local re-builder. The machine is used, but prepped for resale. I am willing to pay the money, but what I want is a great deal.
