Which CPU?

695 Views 3 Replies 3 Participants Last post by  Danny_M_B
Hi, I currently run an AMD 64 3000(S939) and want to upgrade. The two options in my price range are the AMD64 4000 or the AMD64 X2 3800. I know Dual Core is fast becoming the norm but does the 4000 have more power than the X2 3800? I mostly use my PC for gaming so raw power is a more essential need. Thanks for you help.

Welcome to TSF:

The dual core CPU is going to spank the other choice you listed. But remember you will need a dual core capable mobo

hey danny,

what motherboard do you have? is possible that you might need to flash the bios in order to support dual-core cpus.
I have an Asus A8N-SLI mobo, 1gb of OCZ Gold ram and an X800 XL 256Mb. Dual core is definately an attractive option! Thanks for all your help!
