Where do files go if they are not fully downloaded?

I started downloading a demo for a game and decided I didn't want it. It was like 15mb in, total size is 1.3gb. Where is that 15mb that is downloaded? If I cancel, does it delete that? Or is that 15mb still on there? Reason I'm asking is I have done with this with other demos or mods for my games.

It depends on the medium you're using to download. Some browsers and download tools cache the data so it can be resumed, while others do not.
