Can you give some advice on this please?
I have an ACER laptop running OS Windows Vista Home Premium (Pack 2) The other day I installed my new 3 in 1 (printer/scanner/copier) onto my laptop.
It seems to be working just fine and I don't think the 3 in 1 has any direct role in the problem. However, before installing it, and in fact, before even switching on my laptop, I unplugged the mouse from the usb port on the rhs of the laptop and plugged it into the usb slot on the lhs. (I did this because I wanted to plug in the lead from the 3 in 1 into the usb slot on the rhs of my laptop). I then switched the laptop on and logged in. When this was done I got a small message at bottom of screen which quickly disappeared but I think it basically said that my mouse was successfully installed. I then installed the 3 in 1.
I now notice in Explorer that it says"Removable Disk (E:)" below where it says "BD-ROM Drive (D:)" I think this problem has arisen because I didn't safely remove the mouse - I suppose I should have disabled it first (how?) then plugged it in on the other side??
Is it possible for me to get. things back to normal again? Removable Disk (E:) disappears from Explolrer when the 3 in 1 is switched off
Thanks

and welcome to the Forum

If you reinstall the printer drivers, the flash drive in the printer will probably go back to being shown as it was. What was it called before?

Hello Rich and thank you for the welcome

By "reinstall the printer drivers" do you simply mean put the installation cd that came with my 3 in 1, in the laptop drive and go through the installation process all over again?
(and without first uninstalling it?)
I'm a little confused when you ask "what was it called before" The very first time I looked in Explorer after installing the new 3 in 1, I noticed "Removable Disk (E:)" When I go into Explorer and click on Control Panel I can see "Printers" in the list of icons. If I double click on this icon I see 4 icons one of which is "EPSON PX710W Series" If I click on "Device Manager" and in the list there I double click "Disk Drives" 2 items appear in the drop down list They are :" EPSON Storage USB Device" and "ST9500325AS" Ofcourse, the EPSON is not a storage usb device but the laptop thinks it is.
I can't see "Printer" in the list under Device Manager which presumably there should be.

Most MFPs' have a flash card reader . . sounds like yours is peing reported as " EPSON Storage USB Device". The printer will not show in Device Manager . . look in Control Panel under printers for it.
