What's with the plug-in???????

i'm trying desperately to download software from the internet and each time i do a very annoying screen comes on and tells me "the plug in did not initialize properly". What is the plug-in and how do i get it to initialize properly?? help!

Go to
Open HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE
then SOFTWARE
then MICROSOFT
then INTERNET EXPLORER
then PLUGINS
then EXTENSION

delete any .EXE, .ZIP, .MP3 files.
restart pc

then booom

Thanks for the tip. It's just that I'm a total novice when it comes to the computer and I have to tell you that your instructions while probabl easy to comprehend by most left me a tad bewildered. When you say Open HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE. Just what exactly are you asking me to do? Is that a website I have to go to? Please explain. Thanks.

Ok sorry for the incomplete info.

Just go to Start then Run
Open regedit
That's the time you'll see the folders I just gave you.:winkgrin:
Hi reneboy....hope you will let me jump in, as I have same problem as clemmo....I followed your directions, but when I opened EXTENSION, I had 2 items, but neither was .EXE .ZIP .MP3.....I'm using a pc with Windows xp and internet explower....any other ideas??? tks.
