I just installed a 20 gig Maxtor(not sure of model) into my system as backup storage. This hdd came out of my sons system(he's upgrading) and I've already saved the files that he wanted and am ready to wipe the drive. I can't seem to format the drive. I feel like such a tard :upset: , would someone please help.
I can see the drive and Windows(XP) has already detected and rebooted and all that jazz. I've gone through MY Computer and did the right click/format, but it won't let me do it that way. Anybody knbow what I'm doing wrong?
My widdow bwain is starting to hurt.

But I am the administrator, or at least I thought I was. I'm the only user on this machine, shouldn't I be the administrator?
Why can't I format this **** thing?

Someone throw me a bone here:winkgrin:

Thanks

WOO HOO:D
I did it. I managed to format and partition from within Windows.
Johnwill wins the door prize as the first person with the winning method.
I accessed Disk Manager through Control Panel/Performance and Maintenance/Administrative Tools. Worked like a charm.
Thanks to all that responded.:D
