What's happening to my LCD monitor?

I have a Hann's G 19" LCD flat panel monitor that is about 1 1/2 years old now. Since this is my first LCD monitor, I don't know what to make of some recently developing effects along the lower edge of my screen.

The best description I can give, allowing for the sky blue background of my everpresent taskbar, is that it has the appearance of side by side Bunsen burner flame tips in white and graduating to light blue. One is larger than the other, and oh yes, I do have a "stuck" red longitudinal pixel in the larger one.

Is there anything I can do to remedy this?....and if not, what is you best assessment of what is happening and what does it portend for the future of this monitor?....is it on it's way to breaking down?

Thanks for your interest. :4-dontkno
