what to get 32-bit or 64-bit

I have an option to upgrade to win vista 32bit or 64bit. which is better and what is difference? im not a tech guy so sorry for my ignorance. :grin:

depends on which cpu you have. if you have a 64bit cpu, and want to take advantage of the extra power it has, get the 64bit vista. otherwise get the 32bit vista if you have a 32bit cpu. also, the 32bit vista has been much more stable and compatible with more hardware in the beta and release canidate stages than the 64bit version was.
Going off the Winsupersite reviews I'd hold off on the 64bit version for now.
Points to note for the 64bit version are
  • Only allows signed drivers
  • Includes ability to randomise the memory locations of its boot files thus making those hacking attempts close to impossible
  • PatchGuard - no access to the kernel at runtime, if there's a hack attempt Vista immediately shuts down
  • No support for 16bit/DOS programs
  • Apparently needs at least 4GB of RAM to run well (not sure why)
