I just bought this computer and don't know very much about it. I want to upgrade my CPU and GPU but don't know where to start. If I can upgrade my porcessor which ones can I use? Can it be a dual core or does it have to be a single core? Is it even possible to upgrade an intergrated GPU?
Here are my system specifications:
MSI VR630-1672
Main Board: MSI MS-1672
CPU: AMD Sempron TL-40
GPU: nVidia GeForce 9100M-G
OS: Windows 7 Ultimate

Based on the components your computer seems to be a laptop.

I very much doubt that it's possible to upgrade GPU on a laptop that has an integrated GPU.

As for the CPU i think that upgrading even a CPU of a laptop is very tricky.

I'd pretty much give up on upgrading any parts with the exception of RAM on a laptop. But i'm really not that informed with these things with laptops, so do correct me if I'm wrong.

I have a friend that told me it is easy to replace AMD processors. He told me that all I have to do is make sure that it is the same pin count and that it does not overload my motherboard. If this is so where can I find out how many pins my processor is and what my motherboard can handle?

It probably would be best to contact MSI to see what CPU is compatible.

According to the specs on the MSI site the MXM slot is optional (this determines GPU upgrade)

MSI should have this info readily available.
