I have the Februrary 2008 macbook. I bought it about a week ago off someone on gumtree. It hadn't been restored so i figured the grey installation ones would work. After erasing the content on the hard drive i inserted disk 1. After then selecting what language it popped up saying 'OS X cannot be installed on this computer.' After looking at the grey disk again it said 2007 so i'm guessing it was the wrong one. Anyway i was wondering if i just buy an operating system off Apple would i be able to install it correctly? Basically i can't access my macbook and i have no clue what operating system to buy because i'm new to mac. Thanks for the help!

It was shipped with "OS-X Leopard".

I am not sure you can even buy Leopard anywhere, other then like on eBay or something. You may be able to get a Technician to install it for you at an Apple store.

Since it is an Intel Mac, you can put Snow Leopard on it. Which is for sale from Apple for $20: Mac OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard - Apple Store (U.S.)
