Hi, everybody!

I have a Compaq Presario SR1211NX PC that I bought in Black Friday in 2004 with MS-6577 as Motherboard & the Compaq motherboard name: giovani2-GL6. I need to replace the MB and keep the case.Please somebody can help me find out What motherboard will replace an MS-6577? or there are there other recommendations?

you need a socket 478 intel chipset motherboard with a FSB or 400/533

these boards are no longer in active production; however you can still find them very easily on ebay

I would in your situtation; look for the used Asus P4P800-E Deluxe this is a full atx motherboard and your old board is a micro atx board (smaller in size) this is one hellva motherboard ....... far better than the one you had and top of the line !!

but ....... HP/compaq cases are known not to accept cases other than their own models ......... so therefore while you are shopping for a motherboard ....... I suggest you save yourself a BIG headache and get a new case also ..... such as the Coolermaster Centurion for $50.00 or less at newegg ........... they even have some cheaper at mwave.com / click on refurbished / click on case & power supplies

remember ...... HP/Compaq system / motherboards have unique non standard case connectors........if you get a "standard" motherboard ...... you will need a standard case
