What kind of processor do you need to run Rainbow Six: Vegas?

I bought Rainbow Six: Vegas today and installed it. During the install it did a check of the system specs and then gave me a run down if everything meets the recommended or minimum requirements. Everything had a green check mark except my processor that didn't meet recommended OR even minimum specs. Processor is an AMD Anthlon 64 3800+. The game still installed and it does play, although I have noticed some screen freezing and such. Do you need a dual core processor to play some of these new games? Are they like built to run on two cores now? I knew my CPU was crappy but it never occured to me it might be monumentally crappy until today. :sigh: Any input? Upgrade time?

The vast majority of games still only take advantage of uni-processor/core design. Even those that do take advantage of it by no means have it as a requirement.

Take a look and follow these steps to possibly improve performance. See if this helps, and let us know.
Hey that system lab requirements site is great. It said for Rainbow Six Vegas the minimum for the AMD was the Athlon 3000 and I have the 3800. I don't know why the installation software said it didn't meet the requirements. Here's something that I don't understand, it says "CPU Speed Minimum: 3 GHz" and then it says for my specs "You Have: 2.40 GHz Performance Rated at 3.80 GHz"?? :4-dontkno What is that all about...it's not overclocked, and it's a 2.4ghz.
AMD CPU's are clocked lower than their model number. Basically, it means that the 2.4GHz "3800" will perform as well as an Intel 3.8GHz of equivalent family.

Awesome information, thanks!
